We stayed over in Leavenworth, WA.   A nice little Bavarian town.  Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a schnitzel house last night and with arriving late last night, most restaurants were closed.  But we did find a pub that opens until midnight.  This morning we were able to spend a couple of hours touring the town...very nice.

Our day was long with some stopovers near Yakima and the Crooked River.   For the most part we had squelching, hot weather where we thought our bikes would over heat but we had a bit of a cooling off period after a few hours.  About a quarter ways down central Oregon near Shaniko, we were caught in a thunder storm.   It was actually refreshing but the hail was painful as we were still in shorts and T-shirts.  After 9 hours and 530 km we finally made it to Bend, OR where we stayed in the scum of the earth flea bag motel...it was cheap!
