PROCEDURE
1. Find
basic price of required roll.
If a plain roll is all that is required,
and you intend to supply and weld
a shaft locally, go no further.
2. If hubs are required, add price.
Select
either fixed bore or taper - lock. (Not both) Taper-lock
price
includes both hubs and bushings for required shaft diameter.
3. If lagging
is
required, add price

FIXED BORE HUBS
Rolls with hubs, set- screws and keyways are better than rolls with welded-in shafts. The amount of weld for any shaft diameter is greater. Hubs allow for replacement of damaged shafts.

TAPER LOCK HUBS
Taper
lock hubs and bushings are the best way to
mount rolls. They hold the shaft rigidly in place
with no chance to migrate or flex.
The welded area holding the hub is far greater
than that which would be used for the
same diameter welded shaft.

Standard thickness of 1/4" is used on rolls to 4" to 10" in diameter. Thickness of 3/8" is used on rolls12" to 24" in diameter.
